Life in the Jungle

These images were made with ink (uni-ball waterproof pen, and pental pocket brush) and water color.  What I usually do is I make an initial sketch in pencil, hatch in some lines with my trusty uni-ball ink pen.  Then I throw on some water color.  It is really important that you use a ink pen that has waterproof ink.  Otherwise when you put on the watercolor the ink will bleed and the whole thing will become a mess.  After the watercolor, I might add another layer of ink because the watercolor suppresses the richness of the ink a little.  Now you try!!!

Motorcycle License

Today I went down to the DMV to take my motorcycle written exam.  I was dreading going to the DMV because most of the time it is a complete waste of time.  Yet, this time it went smoothly, and the people were nice.  Although I did see a lady going crazy with frustration at the DMV worker.  I had to steer clear of her negative aura, I didn't want any of that nasty energy influencing my test taking abilities.

I passed my exam, and got my license, YAY!  I even sketched a few people while I waited my turn.  When I got home I threw on some watercolor.  Levi (my dog) and me celebrated with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and kibble.

Been too busy to think.  This is just a little doodle I made while I was watching my new dog.  Hopefully after the 11th when Summer starts I will have more time to work on my art, and more time to post.  

Moleskine April 2010

Here is a selection of pages from my watercolor paper 3x5" moleskine. These are some of my favorites from this month.

Sketch Book

For the past two days my students have been taking the CAHSEE exam. Which means I have to spend the entire day proctoring the test.

It's slow for a teacher to watch students take a test so while the students are trying to decide which answer to bubble in, I get to doodle in my sketchbook. I keep a little watercolor set near by so I can color my drawings if I feel the need, it's great practice, and it's great letting the mind wander.

Oh I should mention that I never draw the students.

Sketch Book

Whenever I have a spare moment I draw and paint in my super rad moleskine watercolor sketchbook. Sometimes I hit gold and I feel like a genius. Below is some of my latest:

This is a random pirate chick. More often than not I am drawing pirates, because pirates are cool. Arrrgh!

I did this one while I was covering a Spanish class during my conference (I'm an Art teacher if you haven't been keeping up). The teacher left a depressing movie about a civil war in El Salvador for the students to watch. I wasn't really paying attention to the movie because it was in Spanish, yet I did notice the plot revolved around little kids getting shot by angry soldiers.
I don't know what this is, I must have been trippin' or something.
